Dash flashes when you try and start it, battery isn’t dead. I felt it stumble like it had when the last HPFP went out a few days ago...getting sick of this car. My wife is having it towed to the dealer this afternoon. Whats the lemon law limitation for mileage?

I know exactly what happened here. The fuel line retainer clips to the fan shroud are made of a nylon that gets super brittle over time. It is super easy to break a couple, look at the result and think, “Welp, those probably weren’t that important. Fuck it!” and move on. Those same clips keep the fuel line from flopping about and resting against the the hot manifold resulting in an engine fire.
I’m not proud of how I learned this lesson ... because I loved my old orange bug :’(

What year and engine is it? And does it have a DPF filter?

Lemon law is typically 2 years/24,000 miles. There is also the manguson moss act which I believe covers it throughout the warranty period.

interesting. Doesn’t smell like fuel but I bet its either that or an electric issue (vw with electrical issues?!)

Thanks, I’ve heard of the MMA, but haven’t read through it to see how it applies to me here, will do.

Possible, but it hasn’t been cold in a long while. We’ll see.
